Meeting of Directors, officers, & members

February 23, 2011

Present were: Bill L., Boots W. Chris B., Chris S., Edward K., Janet K., Kathy C., Millard C., Paula E, Ramsey W., Sam H.

 

  1. 1:09 - Meeting called to order.

    1. Bill L., submitted his resignation as President but agreed to remain President in name only to minimize the updating of corporate and organizational papers.

    2. Treasurer's report: no transactions. Balance remains: $2,286.92

  2. 1:15 – Discussion of Kids and Family Tennis initiative.

    1. P.E. Programs in schools (15 Tyler schools are USTA members and have had training.)

    2. Kid's Clubs or Adopt-a-School programs

    3. Play Days

    4. Chris S. will meet with Kimm K. in April to discuss how TJC might be involved

    5. Chris B. will continue to pursue opportunities at Jack Elementary
      continue to volunteer, with his team, in the community to promote tennis
      and follow-up with the other schools (see 2.1) that have expressed interest in tennis

  3. 1:51 anyone interested may attend the NETXCTA meeting on March 28 at 6pm. Ken McAllister, USTA Texas Section Senior Executive will present information on the USTA initiatives intended to promote community tennis.

  4. Current TCTA Board and Officers are keeping the TCTA active to give the NETXCTA and other coalition members access to its 501(c)(3) status. Currently, tennis associations typically receive 501(c)(4) status. Donations to 501(c)(3) are tax deductible. Donations to 501(c)(4) corporations are not.

    1. Fresh enthusiastic volunteer(s) are needed to lead the Kids & Family Tennis Initiative

    2. Money & equipment, via the NETXCTA, TCTA budget and grants and USTA programs, is available

    3. Talent from UTT, NETXCTA, TCTA, and JTT is available
